Do the Right Thing Without having Expectations
I was running up Mount-Royal in Montreal this morning with a bunch of thoughts in my head. I had a feeling of unease and was trying to organize all that is happening in my life and where I want it to go. I caught myself planning, well into the future, however this all made me feel unsatisfied.
I realized that I was creating expectation after expectation. Then I realized that as long as I do the right thing by me and by others and not expect my set of imagined outcomes to happen… I’m HAPPY.
It’s hard work figuring out what the right thing to do is, specially, when you have to strike a balance between what’s good for you and what’s good for the people around you. What I’m realizing more and more every day is that it’s all about being in the moment and doing what feels right here and now.
The thing you shouldn’t do next is, reason that because I did this action and that action and they were all the right things, now this should happen. NO. The reward for doing the right thing, is a clear conscious and knowing that you did what felt right.
Everything else is gravy.
